The Turku HIFU (High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound) Research Centre is a world-class research facility located in Turku University Hospital (TYKS), Finland. The research centre owns two clinical therapeutic ultrasound systems which are used to treat patients with uterine fibroids, adenomyosis, bone metastases, osteoid osteomas, desmoid tumours and prostate cancer. The doctors, physicists and researchers of this centre conduct research in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) monitoring of therapeutic ultrasound treatment, therapeutic ultrasound modelling and clinical feasibility evaluation.
